A few months ago a friend photographer told me about this group of photographer caller the Raw Photo Clique. They get together once a month and photograph different styles and techniques of photography. I was intrested to meet up with and try it out. I've wanted to try stepping out of my comfort zone and experiment with different style of photography, so I thought it would be great opportunity. I never got the chance to meet up, I always had some other event that came up, but I finally got a chance this past weekend.
The objective was Beach fashion. I've never shot fashion or worked with models other than working with my beautiful family. I was intimidated, but I thought i go and give a try. We met up and split up it to groups, each group with a model. I thought someone was going to show us a few basic principles and help get us started. Nope! They just sent me off, "Go... and photograph your models." I've never directed someone like this, what do I say, how do I pose them? And to make it better, it was my partner first time too.
Thankfully our model Rachel had some experience and took it upon herself to try different poses. Thank you! My partner and I took turns and got some good shots. I don't think fashion is my strong suit, but it was nice to stretch myself in a uncomfortable situation. Next month we shooting apparel and I'm looking forward to that.
